Let’s talk about Lea’s photo shoot for a minute.
This is Lea Michele. She’s pretty fucking hot, I mean check out the muscle tone on those legs, am I right? I’m right.
The picture below is of someone that vaguely resembles Lea Michele. I suppose if we’re feeling generous we can say this is what Lea would look like if she needlessly dropped 10-15 pounds, lost that delicious muscle tone and had some elective cosmetic surgery. This Lea!Light isn’t hot.
they aren’t photoshopping rolls and curves and muscles on to women’s bodies, they are always photoshopping them off. it is not a coincidence that women are photoshopped to look smaller and weaker than they are. it is not a coincidence that a sexist society values small, thin, frail female bodies as the ideal. they want us to be starved and tiny because then we are easier to control. i’m not in any way saying that thin women aren’t beautiful or can’t be powerful or strong. but thinness is valued because of the fantasy that a small woman will be easier to control, and it is true to a degree. if a woman is starving herself she will be weak and malnourished (not that all thin women are starving themselves). and it’s not a coincidence that women with muscle definition are rarely shown, because muscle equals strength. and big, voluptuous and fat women take up space. these body types are threatening to male supremacy so they are photoshopped away. i think it’s wrong to say that thin women aren’t beautiful or are less beautiful. but i do think it’s fair to say she looks more beautiful in the first picture, because she looks like herself.
